A real ugly-looking mutt this is.
It is actually a red-lipped batfish (Ogcocephalus darwini) found in the deep seas off the Galapagos Islands in depths of over 100 feet.
The red-lipped batfish is a bottom dwelling fish and is a lousy swimmer. To move from place to place it has adapted pectoral fins that it uses to “walk” across the ocean floor instead of swimming.
Batfish are predators. Diet consists of small fish and crustaceans.
See the following short video of this fish and a similar fish, the frogfish.
